Get safety savvy with our top tips

  1. 01

    Your device

    • Keep your computer's security software up to date and run regular security scans
    • If you lose your mobile handset, cancel it with your phone operator as soon as possible
    • Logoff each time you finish using Online Banking and don't leave your computer or mobile device unattended whilst you're using Online or Mobile Banking
  2. 02

    Your details

    • Never give your Online or Mobile Banking security details to anyone else, including your Customer Number, full PIN, full password or card reader codes
    • Never log in to Online Banking using your card reader - we will never ask you to
    • Never enter your Online Banking details in full on a computer or mobile device
    • Use strong passwords which are at least 8 characters long; a combination of upper and lower case; and include numbers and symbols
    • If you suspect that someone has got hold of your details, tell us as soon as possible

    Your activity

    • Check that no one's looking over your shoulder when using Online or Mobile Banking in public
    • Public WiFi hotspots are not always secure. Try to access Online / Mobile Banking on safer networks
    • Beware of unsolicited contact (email, phone call, text message, home visit). We will never ask you to pay money away from your account to protect yourself from a fraud
    • Check your account activity regularly and tell us immediately if you notice something unusual
