How to freeze your debit card

You can instantly freeze your debit card in the mobile app. You can freeze all card transactions or just certain types, for example contactless only.

To freeze your debit card in the mobile app, all you need to do is:

• Log in to the mobile app.
• Select the account that has your debit card.
• Tap "Manage cards & Apple Wallet" or "Manage cards & Google Wallet".
• Choose "Freeze".

This stops any cash withdrawals or payments being made with your debit card. If you find your debit card, you can remove the freeze by tapping "Unfreeze".

If your debit card has been stolen or you think someone might know your PIN, please freeze the card then contact us so that we can cancel the card and issue you with a new PIN.

Block or unblock payment types on your debit card

You can turn specific payment types on or off to stop payments of that type. Choose any combination of these card controls:

• Contactless
• Online & telephone
• Gambling
• International
• Chip and PIN

To change a payment type:

• Open up the mobile app.
  
• Select the account that has the debit card you want to change.
• Tap "Manage cards & Apple Wallet" or "Manage cards & Google Wallet".
• Choose "Card payment controls".
• Tap the control you want and follow the on‑screen instructions.

If you receive a new debit card, you might need to reset your card payment controls.

If you want to freeze your debit card using online banking, just follow these steps:

• Log in to online banking.
• Choose "Cards" from the main menu.
• Select the account that has your debit card.
• Choose "Freeze card".
• Pick the card you want to freeze and click on "Freeze card".

This stops any cash withdrawals or payments being made with your debit card. If you find your debit card, you can unfreeze it by selecting "Unfreeze card".

If your debit card has been stolen or you think someone knows your PIN, freeze your card right away and contact us. We will cancel the card and issue you with a new PIN.
